Manchester United touted as possible destination for Joao Felix

Manchester United could make a surprise move for Joao Felix in the summer, should he end up not staying at Chelsea after his loan deal expires.

This update comes from AS, who claims Felix could move to Old Trafford later this year.

The Portugal international is currently on loan at Chelsea after falling out with manager Diego Simeone. Both parties opted for a temporary exit, but it remains to be seen if he has a future at Atletico Madrid beyond this season.

Chelsea reportedly want to keep Felix and that won’t come cheap. This means Todd Boehly doesn’t expect to cut his spending on transfers anytime soon, which raises serious questions about Chelsea and Financial Fair Play (we’re sure there’s more to come on that).

It is believed that signing Felix would cost somewhere in the €100m range, a figure I think United would be crazy to pay.

AS claim United have always held an interest in Felix.

The report from AS claims: “Manchester United has always been that club that has been there to watch, that has asked about him.”

“Since the departure of Cristiano you don’t have a big name up front either. That number 7 that Cristiano Ronaldo wore at Manchester United might not be a bad fit for the Portuguese.”

It must be said that any suggestions over Felix getting a specific squad number seems extremely exaggerated.
