Manchester United takeover latest: Revised bids to be submitted by this evening

Tonight marks a second deadline for bidders involved in the Manchester United sale process to lodge their improved offers.

Bids will need to be submitted by 9 pm this evening and there will be at least five, according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol.

The Telegraph reported last night that Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is “very confident” that his next offer will be enough to sway the Glazer family into giving him full ownership of the club.

He is prepared to invest heavily into the men’s, women’s and academy teams, as well as revamping Old Trafford and Carrington training ground. The Qatar-based investor’s new bid is a reported £5.5 billion.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe

On the other hand, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is the only other investor that has publicly declared his interest and involvement in the process. He initially tabled a £4.3 billion bid and will also submit an improved offer by tonight’s deadline, after meeting face-to-face with the United hierarchy last week.
