Manchester United target scores brace as Napoli book place in Champions League quarter-finals

Napoli have continued their incredible form this season by cruising into the quarter-finals of the Champions League. In turn, it’s the first time Serie A has had three quarter-finalists since 2005-06.

It took the Serie A leaders a comfortable 5-0 aggregate victory, with Eintracht Frankfurt failing to score a single goal over the two legs. The win meant Napoli have qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in their history.

Manchester United target Victor Osimhen netted a brace as the hosts won the second leg 3-0 in Naples. The Nigerian scored either side of half-time to ensure no slip-ups.

The first goal went in as Osimhen’s looped his header over the goalkeeper and into the net.

For the second goal, Osimhen was in the right place at the right time.

Trouble kicked off in the streets of the city between supporters prior to kick-off, but on the pitch there was only one winner. A penalty from Piotr Zielinski sealed the victory for the Italians.

Dream season continues for Osimhen

Napoli are on course to win their first title since 1990, but Osimhen says they are also dreaming of Champions League glory.

“It’s amazing to make history with this win,” said Osimhen to Amazon Prime, as cited by Yahoo Sport.

“We will keep on dreaming, we have the squad to do so (win the Champions League). I think we are on the right path. We have a great coach. We will see what the future holds for us, I think we have a good chance.”

Can Osimhen win the Champions League before leaving Napoli? Big ask, but it remains to be seen where the Nigerian striker will end up next.
