Manchester United fans were left fuming over Anthony Anthony’s refereeing during Sunday’s scoreless draw with Southampton in the Premier League.
Fans have vented their frustrations following some of the decisions Anthony Taylor made during the first half of their clash with The Saints, but it’s not like his officiating picked up after the break either.
After the half-hour mark, Casemiro was sent for an early shower for a studs-up tackle on Carlos Alvaraz, although he won the ball first. Taylor also denied United a penalty for a clear handball offence.
United fans took to Twitter to react to Taylor’s shocking refereeing:
Andre Marriner.
Can’t want to call Anthony Taylor over with the Casemiro challenge.
Doesn’t even ask him to take a look at the penalty shout.
The man is a f***ing disgrace.— Havit ten sAv🇾🇪🔰🏴 (@jonmikesav8) March 12, 2023

VAR overturning that Casemiro red card but not Bella-Kotchap literally stopping the path of a cross with his arm is absolutely grim.
Anthony Taylor is meant to be one of the experienced ones. Joker.

Anthony Taylor was the same ref that moved our wall further back for Lucas Digne's free-kick goal for Aston Villa, and today he denied us a clear penalty.
He should NEVER be allowed to officiate a Manchester United game ever again. pic.twitter.com/11LXE6XAoy

Congrats to Anthony Taylor who is awarded Man of the Match. 🙃 pic.twitter.com/ZCqobsWMcA

I actually think the Premier League need to investigate Anthony Taylor and VAR today, this is a new level of bad. 2 clear pens denied and a silly red for Casemiro winning the ball.

If this was our player handling the ball in the box Anthony Taylor would have pointed to the spot without hesitation. pic.twitter.com/u5j1pnxbzL

So, if you get the ball first then catch the man it is a straight red but if you do it in the box it's not a penalty?
Anthony Taylor and the rest of the officials in this country are beyond embarrassing now.
There's zero consistency. It's disgraceful.

Give Taylor the red card from United games for the foreseeable future.
