(Video) David de Gea bags Premier League award for stunning save vs Leicester

David de Gea was recently honoured pitchside at Old Trafford after he broke the record for most clean sheets in the club’s history, surpassing Peter Schmeichel’s tally of 180.

De Gea has been a mainstay in the side since he joined the club from Atletico Madrid in 2011 but now, he could be approaching the exit door as his contract is up at the end of the season.

It’s understood that he is in talks with the club over a new contract but as things stand, he’s still playing for his future at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag is said to have reservations about De Gea’s ability on the ball and his distribution but the Spaniard has now been recognised for one of his best qualities – his cat-like reflexes.

As seen above, De Gea’s spectacular one-handed save to deny Kelechi Iheanacho in last month’s 3-0 win over Leicester has been named the Premier League Save of the Month.

Crucially, the stop came with the score 0-0 and Leicester pushing to take the lead. The pendulum swung in United’s favour shortly after to spark what turned out to be a comfortable victory.
