Fabrizio Romano provides update on prolific Benfica forward amid United and PSG interest

Manchester United remain interested in Benfica starlet Goncalo Ramos.

Erik ten Hag’s striker search is set to heat up this summer, with a long-term No.9 likely top of the manager’s transfer list.

Anthony Martial is seemingly in his final months as a Red, as his ongoing injury concerns this season have caused Ten Hag a headache in the forward department. Obviously, it’s through no fault of the Frenchman’s, but his lack of fitness is simply too unreliable for a club wanting to compete at the highest level.

Ramos has been one option thrown into the mix along with the likes of Victor Osimhen, Benjamin Sesko and Harry Kane, with the latter providing significantly more experience than the others. All the forwards will come attached with a hefty price tag.

Romano on Ramos

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Ramos, who has also garnered interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Speaking in his Daily Briefing for Caught Offside, Romano suggested that clubs will have to meet his release clause if the 21-year-old is to leave Benfica at the end of the season.

“Goncalo Ramos has €120m release clause included into his contract, it won’t be easy at all to negotiate with Benfica. At the moment there’s still nothing advanced, just many clubs sending their scouts to follow him; PSG wanted Goncalo last summer but he was untouchable for Benfica.”
