Erik ten Hag is standing by his players following Sunday’s dismal defeat to arch-rivals Liverpool.
The record-breaking loss is likely the last thing he expected on the touchline given United’s scintillating form heading into the game at Anfield.
Exactly one week before the match, the Red Devils ended a six-year trophy drought at Wembley after defeating Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final. It also marked the first trophy under Ten Hag, just seven months into his tenure.
At his press conference today, the manager was asked if he felt “personally let down” by his team’s performance.
He responded (via Football Daily): “No. We are in the same boat and we did it in togetherness. So we win together, we lose together, so all we made a mess on Sunday and we have to deal with that.”
