BBC pundit Alan Hutton has reacted to Manchester United’s reported interest in Victor Osimhen.
The Red Devils are among several clubs in the race for the Napoli forward, who has been one of the most in-form strikers in world football this season.
Osimhen has registered 21 goals and four assists in all competitions so far and has been instrumental in his side’s scintillating campaign; Napoli sit atop Serie A by 15 points and have one foot in the next stage of the Champions League.
One positive factor in United’s pursuit of the 24-year-old is that he recently expressed his desire to play in the Premier League, however, both Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested in Osimhen.
United have also been linked with Harry Kane, with Erik ten Hag identifying a long-term replacement for likely summer departee Anthony Martial, who has been plagued with injuries this season.
Hutton on Osimhen
Hutton spoke to Football Insider regarding United’s striker search and reckons Osimhen would be the perfect addition to the squad.
“First and foremost I think Napoli paid about £62m for him, so that has gone up. We are talking £100m. Do Tottenham need a player like that? Possibly if Kane were to move it could be a domino effect.
“Man United are looking as well, Harry Kane is a target for them so it could be that domino effect where if one leaves for that team, maybe there is a space opening up for someone else.
“Man United need a number nine, will Man United go and break the bank for somebody like him who is an outstanding footballer?”
