Erik ten Hag wants to sign another Ajax player alongside Harry Kane

Manchester United’s plans for this summer transfer market are already being discussed in the press and now, it’s claimed that Erik ten Hag is keen on raiding his former club Ajax once more.

Ten Hag insisted on bringing two players with him from the Amsterdam club last summer, with Antony and Lisandro Martinez both following the Dutchman to Old Trafford.

A move for Jurrien Timber, the centre-back, was also mooted but the 21-year-old ended up staying at Ajax following several weeks of speculation.

Now, according to talkSPORT, Ten Hag is keen on signing Mohammed Kudus, who was brought in by the United boss in 2020 from Norwegian side Nordsjaelland.

Kudus, a versatile option who can play in midfield and further up the pitch, endured a frustrating start to this season and was reportedly close to joining Everton on loan.

The Ghana international has, however, overcome the early struggles under Alfred Schreuder and is now one of Ajax’s most important players.

As per the report, it doesn’t stop there for Ten Hag. He is also said to be keen on signing Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur. The England star has just one year remaining on his contract at Spurs.

United have held a longstanding interest in Kane but a move has never materialised, with Spurs being infamously reluctant to negotiate with other Premier League clubs.

SN’s verdict…
It’s beginning to become increasingly clear that Ten Hag has identified two areas that United desperately need to strengthen this summer and that’s in midfield and the striker department.

United have been in need of a long-term striker option for the best part of a decade, with signings in that area either failing or only staying for one or two seasons.

Kudus could be an interesting one to track as Ten Hag knows him well. Thus far, he has preferred to sign players he’s familiar with and you cannot argue with the results.
