Glazers prioritise full takeover for Manchester United

Manchester United still fear the Glazers could stick around because that narrative still appears to be bubbling in the press. A new report claims club staff have been assured there should be “clarity” on the club’s ownership before the end of the current season.

This update comes from ESPN with sources close to the process hoping that a broad agreement will be in place by the end of April. That would allow potential new owners to come in and have an influence on decisions during the summer transfer window as Erik ten Hag prepares for his second season in charge.

The report adds that The Raine Group, who are advising the Glazer family on the sale process, have indicated the Glazers are still willing to accept a takeover by prioritising offers to complete a full buy-out. That would mean they are less likely to accept an offer for a minority stake in the club. An offer of this nature was submitted by Elliott Advisory, a US-based hedge fund.

It is also suggested that Joel Glazer and Avram Glazer are the two Glazer siblings still unsure about cutting ties with Manchester United. Only time will tell if they have any tricks up their sleeve.

This will bring further debate about the potential owners of United and whether the club will fall victim to sportswashing.

RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins claims Sheikh Jassim is in pole position for the takeover of Manchester United.

It is also understood that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is in the race to buy his boyhood club.
