There has been a huge shift in mentality in the squad since the additions of Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez in the summer. Manchester United have a brilliant nasty streak about them and they’re a joy to watch.
This is all a million miles away from where we were last season, especially under Ralf Rangnick at this point of the season.
Manchester United continued the bid for a remarkable quadruple on Wednesday night when the Reds beat West Ham to qualify for the FA Cup quarter-finals. On Sunday gone, we lifted our first trophy in six years at Wembley, beating Newcastle 2-0 in the Carabao Cup final.
This shows that the mentality in the dressing room is far better than it was.
“We bring in players with good mentality, now the players that were here before change mentality as well,” Fred said, as per the Manchester Evening News. “Erik ten Hag brings a lot of things with him, he brings energy into the dressing room. I don’t know what’s different, it’s the same players, but a different mentality.
“Every moment we believe, we believe in the game, we have the mentality, it’s important to keep this to win the trophies.”
Fred’s international team-mate Casemiro has been our best player – by some distance – and he was quick to praise his close friend after the impact he’s had on the team thus far.
“I love to play with Casemiro,” Fred added. “He won a lot of trophies in Real Madrid, he has a good mentality in the national team as well, he’s important to be a part of our squad.
“He’s a big leader, he talks a lot with us, with every player, every day. He tries to work on his English as well. He is a good guy, everyone knows this, he has a good way in the dressing room.”
