West Ham defender sends warning to Manchester United ahead of FA Cup clash

Manchester United jump from the Carabao Cup final win over Newcastle to an FA Cup clash against West Ham three days later.

The Hammers travel to Old Trafford to face a United side fresh off winning the club’s first trophy in five years.

West Ham defender Ben Johnson has done an interview with club media ahead of Wednesday night’s game. It includes a warning that they’re going to try win the game, but we know what to expect after having David Moyes as manager in the past.

Johnson said: “We’ve got a big game on Wednesday and we want to go to Old Trafford, and win because we’ve been there a few times over the last few years and not quite got the win in the FA Cup or the three points in the league, so somehow we definitely want to win and get through and really go on a decent cup run. We’ve got two opportunities in the Europa Conference League and the FA Cup, so that’s something we want to do.”

Both teams head into the tie with various players out due to long-term injuries or doubts after picking up knocks in recent weeks.

Speaking ahead of the game, Moyes ruled at least three players out of the game, as per Alan Smith from the Mirror.

The visitors will be without Lukasz Fabianski, Vladimir Coufal and Danny Ings.

Beating West Ham will get Erik ten Hag’s side an opportunity to go and win another trophy this season. Our objective this season, however, was to finish in the top four and win a piece of silverware. Half of that has been achieved by February.
