(Video) Luke Shaw admits Man United stars are already training again after Carabao Cup triumph

Manchester United are back in the trophy-winning groove after ending a six-year drought last weekend, with Erik ten Hag guiding his men to a 2-0 victory over Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final.

Prior to the final, United were the only team in Europe’s top five leagues to still be competing in four competitions and now, they are looking to go the distance in the remaining three fronts after securing their Wembley triumph.

Despite the hectic fixture schedule, which will see United play every three or four days for the best part of two months, defender Luke Shaw has squashed any suggestion that players will be handed days off after winning a trophy.

Speaking at Carrington earlier on Monday, the defender revealed that players are in for training less than 24 hours after celebrating their win and are already beginning preparations for Wednesday’s FA Cup tie against West Ham.

“Obviously, we don’t want to look too far,” Shaw told Football Daily on the prospect of welcoming West Ham to Old Trafford.

“Of course, the game is a really big game on Wednesday. It’s a competition that, of course, we want to look to win. That’s why we’re in today. There’s no days off, there were not really many celebrations last night.

“So I think full focus after that was to make sure we come in today and prepare for that game because like I said, it’s a competition we want to stay involved in and we know it’s going to be a tough test against West Ham.”

Victory over David Moyes’ men would take United into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and suddenly, another trip to Wembley is on the horizon for the Reds.

That Carabao Cup triumph was the first taste of silverware for many of the players in United’s first-team squad and that is bound to push them on in the future.

Realistically, United are still in the hunt to win another two trophies this season, having already eliminated favourites Barcelona from the Europa League.
