Manchester United’s pursuit of Harry Kane must overcome spanner in the works

Manchester United reportedly continue to have ‘active interest’ in Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane.

Football Insider has confirmed the Reds’ interest, though their report also states that Spurs have opened new contract negotiations with the prolific forward.

Kane became the club’s all-time record goalscorer in recent weeks, as well as becoming England’s joint-top ‘scorer during last year’s World Cup. He levelled United legend Wayne Rooney’s record.

It’s no secret that Erik ten Hag is on the hunt for a striker this summer and there are not many fans that would turn down Kane, who has continued to perform at the highest level throughout his career.

Kane’s career

One prevailing issue with the Englishman’s career though, is that despite the records, he has no silverware to show for his talent. When he retires, he’ll undoubtedly go down as one of the greatest forwards in Premier League history, but will he really be satisfied if he doesn’t have the trophies to show for it?

Erik ten Hag has just secured a trophy within the first six months of his tenure at United, so it’s clear that a move to Old Trafford will be looking increasingly tempting as the squad continues to flourish under the Dutchman.
