Manchester United have taken a first-half lead against Newcastle United during Sunday afternoon’s EFL Cup final at Wembley.
The Red Devils, led by Dutch manager Erik Ten Hag, came into today’s final off the back of a huge Europa League playoff victory against Barcelona earlier in the week and looking to continue their fine winning form, United have drawn first blood in the race for the first trophy on offer this season.
Although Newcastle are far from out of the contest, United’s lead, which came after Casemiro rose highest from a free-kick, signals a major step toward EFL Cup gold.
