Manchester United knocked fellow European heavyweights Barcelona out of the Europa League last night.

Erik ten Hag has worked his magic on this team. Last night’s performance was yet again a testament to the instant impact he has had on a once-deflated United side.

Whilst both sides should really be competing in the Champions League, Ten Hag had no say over the Reds’ European placement at the end of last season. However, to go toe-to-toe with the La Liga leaders, come from behind twice and look the stronger side across both legs showed a different kind of tenacity and mentality that fans haven’t seen from the players in several years.

At the Camp Nou, it was a goal from talisman Marcus Rashford and an own-goal from Jules Kounde that kept United in the tie. On Thursday, it was a Brazilian connection that sealed the emphatic victory through Fred and Antony.
