Dutch football legend Marco van Basten has heaped praise on Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus and claimed the young Ghanaian is a superior player to Antony.
Antony left Ajax for Manchester United in the summer and his encourage made it no secret at the time that they felt the Eredivisie club were trying to price him out of a move. The Brazilian eventually moved to Old Trafford in an £85.5 million switch.
Although Van Basten claims Ajax have replaced Antony well, at least the winger was able to help them win two titles. Kudus won’t be doing that this season.
“I find Mohammed Kudus a much better football player than Antony,” Van Basten told Ziggo Sport.
“Anthony has his skills, but he is confused with the things he is trying to do!
“Kudus has much b better technique and he knows what he is doing. Antony may be faster, but Kudus is smarter and more technical.
“He is much more of a footballer, you can place him anywhere on the pitch, an all-rounder for the team.
“In fact, I like him much better than Antony. He’s more fun to watch play.”
It just seems like an attempt from Van Basten to rally behind Kudus because Ajax clearly believe he has incredible potential to make it at the very top.
Antony has been subject to harsh criticism from the media since his move to United, but I think most United fans can see that he’s a huge benefit to the team when he plays.
