Man United offer star new contract which includes huge salary reduction

During his time at Old Trafford, the Spanish shot-stopper has played in well over 500 matches, across all competitions, registering 179 clean sheets along the way.

What’s the latest on David De Gea’s Man United contract?

Despite being a club legend, now at the age of 32, time is against De Gea, and with his deal ticking down, there has been speculation that the veteran keeper could be moved on.

However, according to a recent report from the Manchester Evening News, United would like to keep their number one on but have acknowledged that in order to be awarded a new deal, he must first accept a reduced salary.

Currently earning £ 375,000 per week, United have reportedly offered a deal of £ 250,000 per week, and even though that would mean taking a huge £ 125,000-per-week pay cut, it is believed both parties are keen to reach an agreement.

Should De Gea accept, it is expected that he will finish his career with the Red Devils.
