Barcelona handed Sergio Busquets boost ahead of Manchester United second leg

Barcelona manager Xavi has confirmed that Sergio Busquets will be available for Thursday’s Europa League knockout clash against Manchester United.

The two European giants fought out a 2-2 draw at Camp Nou this week ahead of next week’s second leg at Old Trafford.

Barcelona were without Sergio Busquets for the four-goal thriller due to an ankle injury, but fortunately for Xavi, the 34-year-old will be fit for the return leg.

“Franck [Kessie] and Frenkie [De Jong] are doing well and [Sergio] Busquets is back,” Xavi told reporters, as per the Manchester Evening News. “I hope we don’t find him missing as much as a year ago. His absence is always noticeable. We have noticed. He is recovered and it is great news for us.”

It goes without saying that Busquets is not the player he once was but there’s no denying that he is still an important player in this Barca side.

The current La Liga leaders were dealt a blow in the first leg when Pedri sustained an injury and it is thought the young midfielder will be sidelined for a little while.
