Tyrell Malacia explains what he brings to the Manchester United dressing room

Tyrell Malacia has opened up on life at Manchester United, seven months on from completing his move.

The 23-year-old became Erik ten Hag’s first-ever United signing last July. The manager had heavily scouted the defender at Feyenoord and acquired him to provide competition to Luke Shaw at left-back.

He has since been regularly utilised too; 25 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils and 21 as a starter. The Netherlands international has also been granted more game time due to Ten Hag’s recent decision to deploy Luke Shaw at centre-back on several occasions, meaning he has been able to take his usual position on the left flank despite the Englishman also being on the pitch.

Malacia is excellent at contributing in both attack and defence and quickly adjusted to the pace and physicality of the Premier League after spending 14 years working his way through the ranks at Feyenoord.

Malacia on life at United

Speaking to Voetbal Primeur, Malacia hinted at himself being the joker of the changing room at Old Trafford.

“I’m actually good with everyone. I’m a bit the mood maker, everyone can always laugh at me. I always try to bring good vibes to the locker room, that’s important.”
