Manchester United left-back describes Erik ten Hag as ‘possessed’ trainer

Manchester United’s Tyrell Malacia has spoken in detail about what it’s like working under Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag acquired the Netherlands international last summer to provide competition with Luke Shaw at left-back. Malacia became the manager’s first-ever signing at the club after being heavily scouted by him whilst playing for Feyenoord.

He has been regularly utilised this season too; 25 appearances for the club in all competitions, with 21 coming as a starter. Recently, Ten Hag has deployed Shaw at centre-back on several occasions, meaning Malacia has been granted even more chances to take position on the left flank.

United have been in outstanding form and every player on the pitch, throughout the campaign, has played their part in some way. Ultimately though, Ten Hag has been the mastermind behind the operation. His style of play and man-management has been near perfect.

Speaking to Voetbal Primeur, Malacia was questioned about the manager.

He’s very detailed. He pays attention to small points, he is developing the team every day. Although we play out late and  we come to the club late, he still goes out to his office when everyone goes home.

“He still watches that match, so that he already has his analysis ready for us. He’s always working on it. Whether he’s a possessed coach? Yes, sure. He loves the game.”
