Jesse Marsch sacked two days before Leeds United make trip to Old Trafford

Manchester United are preparing to welcome rivals Leeds United to Old Trafford in just over 48 hours but there has been a major development in the Yorkshire dugout.

Jesse Marsch, who has been in the job for less than a year and replaced Marcelo Bielsa when the Argentinian manager was sacked in 2022, has now been let go by Leeds.

The decision comes just two days before he was supposed to face Leeds’ great rivals in the Premier League for the first time, with the club confirming the news on their official website.

Leeds are yet to beat United since their return to the top flight in 2020 and it remains to be seen how this decision impacts the two games between the sides this week.

Just days after this storied rivalry has been played out at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag’s men will be making the trip to Elland Road to conclude a hectic week.

The home fixture was originally planned for earlier this year but the game was postponed due to the tragic passing of The Queen in September.

Ten Hag will be hoping to extend United’s fine form against Leeds in the Premier League, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick overseeing three wins and one draw against them. Over the four games since 2020, United have scored an impressive 15 goals and conceded five.
