Manchester United submit Europa League squad as Ten Hag adds three players

We are officially into the second half of the season and from a supporter’s viewpoint, there’s quite a lot to be excited about at Manchester United.

For starters, the Reds are in the Carabao Cup final and Erik ten Hag could become the first manager since Jose Mourinho to win a trophy in his first campaign at Old Trafford.

It’s been far from smooth sailing for Ten Hag, however, with several tricky issues presenting themselves throughout the season. First, it was the humiliating defeats to Brighton and Brentford. Then, it was the tumultuous end to the transfer window before speculation surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s future dominated headlines.

The January transfer window has been eventful as well, despite the expectation going into the month-long transfer period being that United were unlikely to do any business.

Outbound loanee Martin Dubravka was replaced by Jack Butland, Cristiano Ronaldo was replaced by Wout Weghorst and the long-term injury to Christian Eriksen meant that Marcel Sabitzer has joined the club on a short-term loan.

Now, it has been revealed that United have added all three January signings to their Europa League squad ahead of the blockbuster tie against Barcelona later this month.

That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who add that Ronaldo, Dubravka and Axel Tuanzebe are the three players removed from the 25-man list in order to make way for the recruits.

It’s reported that Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek remain on the list, despite their seasons hanging in the balance due to ankle and knee injuries respectively.
