Manchester United duo to return for Carabao Cup semi-final

Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho are in line to return for Manchester United’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Nottingham Forest.

Manchester United go into the game with a 3-goal advantage and Erik ten Hag is expected to rotate his team before returning to Premier League action at the weekend.

Martial, who has missed a lot of football this season due to injury, has not played for United since the win over Manchester City at Old Trafford when he was withdrawn at half-time.

Meanwhile, Sancho was given some time away from the squad to focus on his fitness and mode. He has not featured for the Red Devils since October’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

Ten Hag provided some positive news ahead of the second leg against Forest by confirming that Martial and Sancho are in contention to return. He also ruled Scott McTominay out of action.

“We have some issues,” Ten Hag told club media on Tuesday, as per ManUtd.com.

“I think tomorrow that Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho will return in the game squad, but Scott McTominay will still be absent.

“I think also the next game [against Crystal Palace] he will be absent. We have to see how that process will go. And for the rest, I think everyone is fit.”

United last won the League Cup in 2017 under Jose Mourinho and now is the time to set the record straight.
