Atletico Madrid offer Yannick Carrasco to Manchester United

Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco on loan until the end of the season.

The Belgium international’s best years are behind him but he could be available as a short-term option, as per the Telegraph.

Manchester United are believed to be making moves to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer on loan for the remainder of the season. That move would help Erik ten Hag find cover for Christian Eriksen, who has been ruled out for three months with an ankle injury he sustained in a 3-1 win over Reading at the weekend.

It remains to be seen if United have enough time to get a deal done for Sabitzer, but I really don’t see what different Carrasco would make to the current squad. He is not the player he was during his first stint at Atleti.

Carrasco doesn’t replace Eriksen – and for that reason I don’t think United will be making a move for the Belgian attacker.

The Telegraph’s Jason Burt went on to claim: “There is understood to have been contact between Carrasco’s representatives and United.

“Although it seems far more likely that the Belgium international will join Barcelona in the summer.

“It appears United manager Erik ten Hag is unsure whether he wants to bring in Carrasco despite the news that Eriksen will be out for around three months with an ankle injury sustained in the FA Cup win over Reading at the weekend.”

Some needs to tell Burt that Carrasco is a winger rather than a central midfielder.
