Manchester United agree deal with Cardiff City for sought-after youth prospect

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Cardiff City for youngster Gabriele Biancheri.

The Athletic confirmed this morning that the striker had completed a medical over the weekend to complete his move to the Red Devils. Initially, he is signing a scholar contract which will turn into a long-term professional deal in September when he turns 17.

The report also confirms that the youngster was the subject of interest for several “leading” clubs, which is likely why United swooped in to secure his signature so early.

Biancheri qualifies to represent England, Italy and Wales at international level and has currently opted for the latter, whom he plays for at Under-17 level.

Biancheri is one for the future

The Welshman is not going to slot straight into the first-team and instead has been acquired as a future prospect for United.

Whilst the club should be adding strikers that can hit the ground running instantly, it’s refreshing to see that Erik ten Hag is still seeking young players who can develop at Carrington before making their mark on the senior squad.

The breakthrough of players such as Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo has been largely down to Ten Hag’s man-management (monitoring game time and minutes) and influence over the academy.
