Man United handed Europa League boost as Barcelona star is named as doubt

Manchester United have been handed a huge boost in their bid to reach the next round of fixtures in the Europa League after it emerged that Barcelona have been dealt a huge injury blow.

Erik ten Hag’s men will make the trip to Barcelona next month to face the La Liga leaders but now, Xavi could be faced with the task of eliminating the Reds without one of their star players.

Ousmane Dembele, who has been one of Barcelona’s outstanding players this season, sustained an injury in their 1-0 win over Girona on Saturday and now, it has been reported that the Frenchman could miss the next three weeks.

That’s according to COPE reporter Helena Condis, who says Dembele is now a doubt for the first leg of the mouthwatering round-of-32 playoff game at the Spotify Camp Nou.

As per the report, initial examinations have been made in the dressing-room after Dembele’s injury and the early ‘sensation’ is that he could miss the game.

SN’s verdict…
Make no mistake about it, Dembele is one of Barcelona’s main threats and if he is unavailable for the first game, it’s definitely a boost for Ten Hag.

United are high in confidence and will be making the trip to Spain with one goal in mind and that’s to put themselves in the best possible position to qualify in the second leg.
