David de Gea nominated for Premier League Save of the Month

Manchester United’s No.1 has been nominated for Premier League Save of the Month.

David de Gea’s heroics have been widely recognised this season and the Spaniard’s efforts have saved the team several times in tightly contested matches.

It was his fingertip save against Crystal Palace that has been recognised from last week. Whilst the Reds ultimately went on to settle for a 1-1 draw, the scoreline could have been significantly different without De Gea’s stop in the closing stages of the first half to deny Odsonne Edouard.

De Gea eyes club record

De Gea is just three clean sheets away from overtaking former ‘keeper Peter Schmeichel’s club record of 180. Given United’s form this season, the landmark could be within touching distance for the 32-year-old, which would cement his place in Red Devils’ history.
