Former Man United defender tips 18-year-old to start against Nottingham Forest

Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown expects Alejandro Garnacho to start against Nottingham Forest in Wednesday night’s EFL Cup semi-final first leg.

The young Argentine winger is enjoying an impressive breakthrough. Directly contributing to three Premier League goals in his first nine appearances, including an extra-time winner against Fulham at the end of last year, Garnacho is on course to be the club’s next breakout star.

Having already made three appearances in the EFL Cup, Brown has tipped the 18-year-old to make his fourth outing during tonight’s important cup first leg.

Looking to put one foot in the competition’s final at Wembley, United will know that a good result away to Nottingham Forest will do just that, and with the other semi-final being between Southampton and Newcastle, Erik Ten Hag will surely fancy his side’s chances of going all the way.

Ahead of tonight’s kick-off, Brown, who spoke to United’s official website and predicted the team’s starting lineup, said: “Butland, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Shaw, Fred, Eriksen, Garnacho, Fernandes (C), Rashford, Weghorst.

“First scorer: Alejandro Garnacho

“Correct score: Forest 0 United 2

“Man of the Match: Alejandro Garnacho”

Let’s hope he’s right!
