I don’t get the impression Erik ten Hag wants to lose Facundo Pellistri. A loan move may be on the cards but anything permanent, I am not so sure.
The Uruguayan winger needs more first-team minutes and his agent has every right to push for that since his job is to look out for Pellistri’s best interests.
However, there is part of me that believes Pellistri needs to be patient and bide his time out on loan for a bit. He didn’t pull up trees when he went to Spain on loan – to Deportivo Alaves twice.
Ten Hag on the other side, will say he is doing the best thing for the player, which would be to remain a Manchester United player for the long-term future.
Pellistri has only managed one first-team appearance for United since signing for the club in 2020.
The South American’s agent, La Salvia, gave an interview recently and refused to rule out another loan move. He stressed that United want the player to stay.
“It’s clear that Manchester United want him to stay at the club,” La Salvia told Sebas Giovanelli, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
“However, we need him to play. There are many options in Europe for Facundo on loan move.”
It would make more sense for Pellistri, if he is looking to break into the United team, to move to another European club rather than back to South America.
Globo claim that the winger is close to a move to Brazil.
Flamengo have reportedly “advanced” with their negotiations, while Pellistri’s agent seems set on a move to another European club.
