Man United prioritising striker in summer but three midfielders also on shortlist

Despite agreeing a loan move for Wout Weghorst, according to recent reports, Man United are prioritising a new hitman in the summer and would also like to bring in another central midfielder.

That’s according to a recent report from the Telegraph, who claim Erik Ten Hag has his sights set on midfield reinforcements to provide the necessary cover for Christian Eriksen.

Although Eriksen, 30, has done a good job since he joined on a free transfer last summer, it is clear he is far from the engine the team need, and that, according to these latest reports, could prompt the Red Devils to splash the cash on a new midfielder at the end of the season.

Even though a permanent striker is considered the club’s priority, Erik Ten Hag is believed to have West Ham’s Declan Rice, Barcelona’s Frenkie De Jong and Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham on his shortlist.

The club are currently in the process of navigating a potential takeover, so financial injection may be hard to come by until an eventual sale goes through, however, it has also been noted that offloading players, as well as qualifying for the Champions League, could provide the necessary funds required to sign both a new striker and midfielder.
