Real Madrid and Juventus among clubs monitoring United starlet Alejandro Garnacho

Real Madrid and Juventus are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho.

The 18-year-old has made a name for himself in the first-team setup this season and has consequently pushed the likes of Anthony Elanga, who is two years his senior, down the pecking order.

Garnacho has scored two goals and assisted five across all competitions so far and more recently set up the winning goal in the Manchester derby on Saturday; he sent a teasing cross into the box that was poked in by Marcus Rashford in front of the adoring Stretford End.

Erik ten Hag is careful with the youngster’s game time and is seemingly easing him into the senior game. Garnacho has made 15 appearances –  six as a starter and nine as a substitute.

He joined United’s academy in 2020 from Atletico Madrid.

The latest on Alejandro Garnacho

According to Miguel Delaney of the Independent, Real Madrid and Juventus are tracking the starlet’s situation in Manchester along with ‘virtually every major football agent’, as they have identified Garnacho as ‘a next potential star’.

His current contract is set to expire next summer and the United hierarchy have tabled a new deal that would see him earn £20,000 – a significant increase on his current figure of £7,000. However, it is yet to be signed due to the player’s representatives insisting the offer is too low. Sources at United have stressed that negotiations are “positive”.

The report also confirms that Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni is preparing to call up the teenager for the national team’s friendlies in March. Members of the World Cup winning squad felt as though Garnacho should have been given a chance to play in Qatar, though Scaloni did not want to remove an experienced senior player for a more inexperienced youth player.
