Newcastle weigh up move for Scott McTominay with player open to making the switch

Newcastle United are reportedly weighing up a move for Manchester United’s Scott McTominay.

According to The Telegraph, the Magpies have expressed interest in the midfielder after he expressed concerns about his game time under Erik ten Hag.

If Newcastle feel as though the Red Devils would oversee McTominay’s departure, the club may table a bid, with the player open about making the switch to St James’ Park.

It had previously been reported that Ten Hag would not allow the academy graduate to leave this season, however, if he cannot promise McTominay enough minutes on the pitch, his exit could be on the cards.

McTominay has fallen out of favour

It’s no secret that McTominay has fallen down the pecking order due to the arrival of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. He has made 13 appearances in the Premier League this season; six as a starter and seven as a substitute.

If he does leave in this transfer window, the board must back Ten Hag and find a replacement.
