Manchester United have reportedly ‘deepened discussions’ with Inter Milan regarding Denzel Dumfries.
Dumfries is a name United have been linked with several times in recent years and according to TuttoMercatoWeb, the clubs are now in contact over a potential deal.
This is due to the Italian side lowering their valuation and asking price of the defender; they had previously insisted they would accept no less than €60 million, however, Inter may now listen to offers of around €40 million.
The report suggests they are ‘considering the possibility’ of the Dutchman making the switch to the Premier League. Bayern Munich had shown interest before but are unwilling to meet Inter’s demands, which leaves just United and Chelsea as potential destinations.
Stretty News’ verdict
Given our desperate need for a striker this season, I find it hard to believe Erik ten Hag will table such a high bid for a player that isn’t as needed at this current time.
If the club had €40 million available to spend, it’s unlikely they would have acquired Wout Weghorst on loan rather than seeking a permanent option up front, to then sign a right-back.
