Manchester United host Manchester City at Old Trafford on Saturday, January 14 in the 189th instalment of the highly-anticipated derby. Kick-off is at 12.30 pm.

Both sides are in exceptional form in the Premier League heading into the match and the three points are crucial to their top four and title hopes.

The Reds will be keen to avenge their defeat in the first derby of the campaign, in which they oversaw a 6-3 loss at the Etihad Stadium.

Things have changed since then, though, and United have since overseen just one loss in 18 matches since their last meeting. That includes eight wins in a row and nine consecutive wins at Old Trafford, alluding to Erik ten Hag’s desire to make the stadium a fortress again.

In the last 12 matches, the team have won 10, scored 27 goals and conceded just seven, keeping 10 clean sheets along the way. 10 of the goals scored came from Marcus Rashford, who is perhaps the most in-form player across Europe right now. If he finds the back of the net tomorrow he will level a club record of scoring in nine consecutive home matches, which was set by Busby Babe Dennis Viollet.

The Red Devils sit joint-third in the league table, level on points with Newcastle United with a game in hand, and four points behind City. A win tomorrow could be pivotal to our season.

Manchester United team news

A loan deal for Wout Weghorst has been agreed and the striker will play for United until the end of the season, however, he will not be available in the squad due to not being registered by the deadline.

Diogo Dalot is unavailable after picking up an injury against Charlton Athletic on Tuesday.

Anthony Martial trained Friday morning but the manager will wait to assess his fitness and determine his availability the morning of the match.

City team news

Pep Guardiola confirmed via MEN that John Stones will miss the derby through lack of fitness, but thinks the rest of the squad are fit.
