Manchester United held talks with Jorge Mendes over Joao Felix deal

Manchester United continue to be linked with Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix.

It’s no secret that Erik ten Hag needs to add a goalscorer to his strike force. Manchester United currently sit fourth in the Premier League and having a presence up front would only boost our chances of securing a place in the Champions League next season.

After losing Cristiano Ronaldo, it is believed that United are looking to sign a striker on loan in January, presumably because the funds aren’t there to sign a top player on a permanent deal.

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United and Arsenal have already held talks with super agent Jorge Mendes over a move for Joao Felix.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are focused on signing Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez after his World Cup triumph, and Paris Saint-Germain are not in the race for the Portuguese forward.

Romano tweeted: “New contacts will take place this week for Joao Felix deal. Premier League clubs will have new direct talks with his agent Jorge Mendes. Chelsea are focused on Enzo deal, Manchester United and Arsenal already had talks with Mendes. PSG, not in the race as of now.”

Although Felix is reportedly available on loan, Atletico Madrid will demand a big loan fee as well as his wages covered, so it would work out to be an expensive deal for just the remainder of the season.

He scored at the weekend for Atleti, however, reports in Spain suggest his relationship with manager Diego Simeone has reached breaking point.

That’s why I wouldn’t be surprised if United looked elsewhere… but where?
