Rashford equals all-time Premier League record with Wolves winner

Marcus Rashford is enjoying life at the moment as he continues to have a stellar season for Manchester United.

The 25-year-old’s contract at Old Trafford was recently extended by another 12 months but United will be hoping that he commit to a long-term contract amid reported interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

On this season’s form, he has been one of the Premier League’s outstanding players and he was at it once again on Saturday afternoon as he scored the winner against Wolves to take his side into the top four.

Rashford was surprisingly named among the substitutes for the bench after scoring in both of United’s games since the resumption of club football.

Speaking before the game, manager Erik ten Hag revealed that the decision was made due to a disciplinary issue. It took just 45 minutes for Rashford to make an appearance, however.

After a neat pass-and-go move with Bruno Fernandes, Rashford trickles his way past a couple of Wolves defenders before finding the back of the net.

It gave United all three points but since the game, it has emerged that Rashford’s strike was more historic than some would have thought at first glance.

According to OptaJoe, Rashford has now scored five match-winning goals as a substitute in the Premier League, equalling the record in the competition’s history.

Rashford’s status as a potent super-sub has been with him since the start of his career when he famously scored two goals on his debut, even though he did start that game.

Anthony Martial was named in the starting line-up to face Midtjylland in 2016 but an injury in the warm-up meant that Rashford was handed his chance to shine by Louis van Gaal.

Since then, he has not looked back and the latest record broken by him proves how big of an impact he has had in his short career so far.
