Erik ten Hag impressed by Fred’s impact from the bench

Marcus Rashford scored the match winner after coming off the bench against Wolves on New Years Eve, but he wasn’t the only player to be praised at full-time. Erik ten Hag was happy with the energy Fred brought to the game after coming on.

We learned before the game that Rashford had been dropped to the bench for showing up late to a team meeting after the win over Nottingham Forest.

Fred replaced Christian Eriksen just before the hour mark and Ten Hag was quick to praise the Brazilian midfielder after the game.

Ten Hag said (via The Metro): “It was also a good come in from Fred.

“He made a good come in, brought energy into the game and he was holding onto the ball, linking up play and winning second balls.”

Eriksen, who was replaced by Fred, didn’t have one of his better games in a United shirt. The Dane was unable to grab the game by the scruff of the neck.

We should’t forget that the Brazil international came off the bench and scored during the week against Forest.

Hopefully Fred can continue to make positive contributions as a squad player because he will get more opportunities.
