(Video) Lisandro Martinez returns to Man United training after Argentina triumph

Lisandro Martinez has been one of Manchester United’s best players this season and the former Ajax star is already in with a shout to be named the best signing of the campaign.

Martinez has immediately become a fan-favourite at Old Trafford and is now one of the first names on Erik ten Hag’s teamsheet.

The 24-year-old missed United’s first two games of their return to club football after the season was paused to accommodate the World Cup – a tournament Martinez won with Argentina.

He has now returned to Carrington and is preparing for this weekend’s game against Wolves. Ahead of the encounter, United released footage of the combative defender in training.

Ten Hag will now be mulling over whether he should start Martinez against Wolves at the weekend after he was forced to use Luke Shaw at centre-back earlier this week.

Illness has struck the Old Trafford camp recently, with Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay all missing games over the last seven days due to the virus.
