Manchester United open to letting Brandon Williams leave on permanent transfer

Manchester United will reportedly allow academy graduate Brandon Williams to leave the club on a permanent transfer.

The defender has been at the club since 2008 and has progressed through the ranks at Carrington to make over 50 appearances in the first team.

He completed a season-long loan with Norwich City across the 2021/2022 campaign but picked up a long-term injury which kept him out of action for several months.

Williams returned to United in the summer but only returned to fitness in December when he featured in two winter friendlies during the World Cup. He has made just one five-minute cameo in a competitive match this season.

According to The Athletic, the Red Devils may “entertain talks” for the 22-year-old this month, with Erik ten Hag’s “view of the situation” being “influential”.

This is likely due to the club bolstering the left-back position with the addition of Tyrell Malacia over the summer, who has proven to be a worthy competitor with Luke Shaw for the starting role.
