Manchester United have been handed a transfer boost in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko.
United will, however, have to rival the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool if they are keen on bringing the teenager to Old Trafford.
Moukoko’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2023 with the Bundesliga side adamant about agreeing an extension, though negotiations have reportedly hit a stalemate.
According to SportBild, Moukoko has increased his wage demands; he wants a gross salary of £7 million, whilst Dortmund are currently offering £5.2 million. If they fail to agree a new deal, the player is free to talk to clubs in the first week of January.
Why is Moukoko so sought-after?
The 18-year-old recently made his World Cup debut with Germany after an impressive start to the season in the Dortmund first team. He has contributed six goals and four assists in 14 league appearances.
Moukoko’s numbers at youth level are staggering, though, as he scored 47 goals in 25 appearances for the U19s and netted 90 goals in 56 matches for the U17s.
