Manchester United draw Charlton in Carabao Cup quarter-finals

Manchester United reached the Carabao Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday night after beating Burnley 2-0 at Old Trafford.

We had to wait until Thursday night’s clash between Man City and Liverpool for the draw to take place, and it means we are at home to Charlton Athletic in the next round.

Some Reds will put their eyes up at the Carabao Cup and claim it’s a Micky Mouse trophy. I get that but joy comes with success and Ten Hag is trying to build something at Old Trafford.

It would be beneficial for Erik ten Hag if United could go all the way in the competition this season. Erik ten Hag needs to get his first trophy out of the way and fans have been waiting almost six years for one.

The last time United won the competition was back in 2017, defeating Southampton 3-2 in the final at Wembley. A 2-0 win this time around has secured our place in the last-eight, thanks to goals from Christian Eriksen and Marcus Rashford.

We are happy with the draw because it should mean an easy route into the semi-finals.
