Manchester United and Liverpool monitoring prolific 16-year-old striker

Manchester United are monitoring the situation of Preston North End’s Felipe Rodriguez-Gentile.

The 16-year-old has attracted interest from several top clubs after netting five goals in a 6-1 FA Youth Cup win against Rotherham United.

If the Reds decide to pursue the youngster, they may have to rival fellow Premier League sides in the race for him, though he has already pre-agreed to a two-year scholarship at his club that will begin in the summer.

According to Mirror Football, United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are all tracking the progress of the exciting prospect.

Rodriguez-Gentile has 18 goals in his last 10 matches and is currently still in school, so Preston will have to decide when to try and integrate him into the first team. He also carries Argentinian, Spanish and Brazilian nationality.

Will United make a move for Rodriguez-Gentile?

Erik ten Hag may be eyeing the forward as a similar talent to Alejandro Garnacho, who was also in fine form during United’s winning FA Youth Cup campaign last season. The 18-year-old has impressed the manager, his teammates and fans since being awarded game time in the first team.

Ten Hag is also keen on developing youth talents – a philosophy that runs strong at United, but also at his former club, Ajax.
