Facundo Pellistri tipped to make January exit

Uruguay International Facundo Pellistri could force a move away from Manchester United in January.

That will depend very much on whether his agent follows up on what he said before the World Cup last month.

The winger was overlooked yet again on the bench on Wednesday night in Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Burnley in the Carabao Cup and he is struggling to get into Erik ten Hag’s team.

Pellistri, 21, is yet to make his debut for United but features regularly for the Uruguay national team, even at the World Cup this winter.

He was named on the bench on Wednesday night but never got onto the pitch.

Pellistri’s agent Edgardo Lasalvia gave an interview in November, saying: “I think that with a good World Cup – which we believe he will have – his departure is imminent.”

The Express has decided to relay those quotes to create a story on Pellistri’s agent, but he didn’t exactly pull up trees in Qatar, and I would be surprised if he had a lot of interest in January.
