Erik ten Hag has suggested that Aaron Wan-Bissaka may stay at Manchester United despite his links to other clubs.
It had previously been reported that the right-back had been told he was free to find a new club to join, however, it now looks as though he may stay at Old Trafford.
Wan-Bissaka made his first start of the season last night in a Carabao Cup Round of 16 tie against Burnley. Ten Hag’s first choice in the position, Diogo Dalot, was sidelined for the match due to an injury sustained during the World Cup.
The 25-year-old provided an outstanding assist to set up Christian Eriksen, who scored the opener of the match and his second goal in red. Wan-Bissaka played 72 minutes and picked up a clean sheet.
The defender has been linked with the likes of West Ham, Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers in recent days, though the United manager may opt to keep him around.
Ten Hag on Wan-Bissaka
He said (via the United website): “He has a future. He has had some good years at Man United but, from the start of this season he has had a lot of illnesses and injuries. So, from the restart on, he is fit, so he could train with the team and you see him progressing.
“His fitness levels are getting better. His performance levels are getting better and I am really happy today with his performance. And he gave an assist and, especially, the way he gave the assist [I was happy with].
“About his movement, the timing and a great pass from Bruno. But the assist was great, so I am happy with his performance. He did good.”
