Manchester United have four options in search for new striker

Manchester United are following at least four players in their search for a new striker.

They include Cody Gakpo, Rafael Leao, Goncalo Ramos and Joao Felix.

That is according to ESPN reporter Rob Dawson, who claims Manchester United are set to make an enquiry about the availability of Benfica and Portugal starlet Goncalo Ramos after his World Cup heroics.

Manchester United need to add a forward in the January transfer window following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, though the Red Devils still struggled for goals with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner in the side.

However, there is a slight problem with the report because it states that Ten Hag has been told it is not certain a striker will be signed next month, with figures at Old Trafford trying to convince themselves that January is not the ideal time to bring in new players.

There is nothing ideal about losing Ronaldo midway through the season or being left with an injury-prone Anthony Martial as our only centre forward, so it is a time for the board to deliver whatever the manager demands.

Sources have told ESPN that there are significant budget constraints as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and a higher than expected outlay on transfers last summer.

In terms of Joao Felix, we could see United make a loan offer in January with the obligation to make the move permanent at the end of the season, but is he the answer to our problems up front? Atletico Madrid’s valuation of €100 million could be problematic.
