Ten Hag confirms Manchester United will search for forward in January

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag confirmed on Saturday that the club are searching for a new striker following Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit last month.

The Red Devils have been linked with an array of forward players but it remains to be seen how much money Ten Hag will have to spend midway through the season. January is usually a difficult time to do business, but we could see a change this year following the World Cup.

It’s understood that PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo is a leading target, while reports are starting to doing the rounds on Benfica breakthrough star Goncalo Ramos.

Ten has insisted that United will only sign a new striker if the right player is available.

Speaking to reporters about the prospect of signing a replacement for Ronaldo in January, Ten Hag said (via Manchester Evening News): “Yes but only when we find the right player.

“We do everything in our power. We are doing research on every opportunity and we do everything we can if that opportunity is there to contract them.”

United looked at doing a deal for Gakpo during the summer, but Ten Hag opted to sign Antony from Ajax instead. They could have both in the team next season which is a thought that will should make fans drool.
