Manchester United to hold talks over potential Cody Gakpo deal in coming days

Manchester United are set to hold talks over Cody Gakpo in the coming days, with PSV expected to demand £50 million for the star.

The striker continues to impress on the world’s biggest stage as he netted three times in three consecutive matches for the Netherlands in Qatar. They are now in the quarter-finals of the tournament and will face Argentina, with the 23-year-old expected to start and continue his prolific form up front.

United came close to agreeing a deal for Gakpo in the summer before ultimately ending their pursuit to prioritise the signing of Antony from Ajax. Since then, the Dutchman has only continued to improve and add to his impressive goal tally.

United to pursue Gakpo again

According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils will internally discuss the prospect of making a bid for Gakpo, who looks likely to leave the Eredivisie club in January. United will be keen to ensure he ends up at Old Trafford rather than a Premier League rival, like Arsenal, as they will be without No.9 Gabriel Jesus for the coming months.
