Manchester United team news vs Cadiz | De Gea and Lindelof provide experience

Manchester United are back in action for the first time since the World Cup began, with Erik ten Hag’s side set to take on Cadiz in a friendly on Wednesday night.

The manager named a 29-man squad for the warm-weather training camp in Spain and it gives him a chance to have a closer look at some of the younger players from the academy.

Charlie Savage and Zidane Iqbal both impressed during the pre-season tour and they will be looking for more minutes on the pitch to impress Erik ten Hag.

A second friendly against La Liga outfit Real Betis will follow three days later, on Saturday at 5pm, giving some of the younger players another opportunity to play for the first team.

However, in addition to the players away on World Cup duty, Ten Hag will be without Jadon Sancho and Axel Tuanzebe.

At least Brandon Williams and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are back from injuries and training with the squad in Spain.

David de Gea is among the players who missed out on a call-up for the World Cup, while Victor Lindelof also had some time off after Sweden failed to qualify.

The most experienced players we have in midfield are Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay.

I hope the warm-weather training camp in Spain helps them all prepare for the return of domestic football.
