Tyson Fury continued his unbeaten record by beating Derek Chisora in North London on Saturday night, earning him praise from former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney.
The WBC World Heavyweight championship is a lifelong Manchester United fan and Rooney would like to see him given a knighthood for all of his career achievements.
Rooney was sitting ringside at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to see Fury win his third consecutive defence of the World Heavyweight crown.
Fury was always expected to beat Chisora comfortably – but he will argue that Anthony Joshua ran away from the fight everyone wanted to see. His next fight is expected to be against Oleksandr Usyk next year.
Speaking to talkSPORT about Fury after the fight, Rooney said: “He’s the best we’ve seen for a long time. I don’t think anyone will beat him. I think he’s an absolute legend, what he’s done for boxing. He’s entertaining. His skills are incredible.
“His mentality is incredible. If I’m being honest, I probably think he should be knighted. Because he hasn’t been afraid to go abroad. He’s won titles abroad. Defended them abroad. He epitomises everything that boxing is.”
